Police officers in Brockton, Bridgewater and Easton are in some of their local schools this week taking part in “active shooter” training while students are on winter vacation week.

The training is happening two months after the December massacre of 20 first-graders and six adults in Newtown, Conn.

In Brockton, officers take part in the training regularly, not only at city schools but also at local businesses and homes, Bonanca said.
