In his 12 years owning Lauer Custom Weaponry, Steve Lauer has been a busy, busy man.

At 54, he owns one of the Chippewa Valley’s most successful companies. While many other businesses are feeling the sting of hard times, business is booming at LCW, no matter how you look at it.

First-time gun owners, prompted by possible restrictions being placed on gun ownership, are surging forth to buy multiple firearms.

Among those who already own guns, a constant demand for the semi-automatic rifle AR-15, sound suppressors and Lauer’s own original firearm finish, DuraCoat, have kept his business growing at a fevered pace.
