The G4 cable channel has ordered a reality show that follows a bomb-disposal squad in Afghanistan.

Billed as a real-life version of the Oscar-winning film “The Hurt Locker,” the show will take viewers behind the scenes of a U.S. Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit.

Ten one-hour episodes of “Bomb Patrol: Afghanistan” are planned. The series will debut in the spring.

The production has a special shooting agreement with the Navy, but the network said the military will not have creative control.

“There is simply no way to comprehend the incredible amount of pressure and split-second decision making these individuals must undertake in the worst possible physical conditions without riding along with them as our cameras will do,” G4 president Neal Tiles said.
