A 15-year-old boy is in custody after a replica handgun was brought into a high school portable in Ajax, Ont., on Monday.

Police were called to Notre Dame High School following reports a student was seen with a handgun stuffed in his waistband.

The portable was surrounded, other portables in the vicinity were evacuated and the school was placed into a lockdown.

Tactical officers called the boy out of the class and he was arrested without incident or injury about two hours after the incident began.

A search of the portable revealed a loaded Glock-style pellet gun inside a student’s gym bag.

There were 13 other students in the portable at the time but police say there’s no indication they were threatened in any way or even knew about the weapon.
