A Chicago police sergeant shot a gunman in the foot following a shootout in the South Side’s Fernwood neighborhood.
The sergeant was responding to a domestic disturbance call around 8:30 p.m. Sunday when he saw two people shooting toward each other. One of the shooters turned toward the sergeant and the sergeant told the gunman to drop his gun, according to the statement. The gunman didn’t and and the sergeant fired, striking him in the foot, police said.
