The National Shooting Sports Foundation is taking to Capitol Hill this week, sponsoring a congressional fly-in for senior industry executives. The 30-plus member delegation will speak with key congressional leaders on legislative issues important to the industry, such as federal excise tax reform, removing anti-competitive export controls that harm U.S. manufacturers, support for keeping firearms tracing data secure within the law enforcement community (Tiahrt Amendment), increasing funding for the Don’t Lie for the Other Guy anti-straw purchasing campaign and support for protecting today’s modern semiautomatic sporting rifles.

“This Fly-In is a tremendous opportunity for industry executives to speak directly to lawmakers about their concerns,” said NSSF President and CEO Steve Sanetti. “There is no substitute for a face-to-face meeting with lawmakers, especially when it comes to issues directly affecting the everyday business of our members.”

Expounding on the importance of the legislative fly-in, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel Lawrence G. Keane noted, “It is vital to the continued success of our industry that we engage legislators directly. In today’s political climate, sitting on the sidelines is not an option.”
