A South Carolina man who counterfeited $10 and $20 bills to buy the guns he smuggled into New York City pleaded guilty to firearms trafficking and other charges in Manhattan federal court yesterday.
Harold Brown, 27, was part of a gun-running ring investigated by a joint ATF/NYPD task force over four months last year, authorities said.
Undercover ATF agents in Manhattan bought 29 guns from the man who bought the guns from Brown, authorities said.
Brown, the final member of the ring to plead guilty, now faces up to 40 years in prison.
ATF agents also seized 21 guns from the home of Richard Spires, 65, one of the South Carolina men who sold the weapons to Brown.
