The American Custom Gunmakers Guild (ACGG) Banquet and Auction is on Friday evening January 4th at the Hyatt Regency hotel in Dallas, Texas. The event is part of the 2013 Custom Gunmakers’ Exposition, which will be inside the Dallas Safari Club Convention for the first time. Well known hunter, author and editor Craig Boddington will be the keynote speaker at the banquet.
The auction following dinner includes everything from several hunts to grip caps, so there will be plenty of items to bid on for every budget. At the 2013 ACGG Banquet, sponsors at the Gold, Platinum and Diamond levels will receive raffle tickets to win the custom made Turnbull ACGG Sponsorship rifle. The winning ticket will be drawn at the banquet.
The Sponsorship Rifle is a Turnbull Model 71 in .475 Turnbull with a 24” octagon barrel and full magazine. The feather crotch American black walnut stock (donated by the Dressels) features a pistol grip checkered butt and forend by Doug Mann, with a recoil pad and recoil reducer. It also features a steel side mount for a scope or red dot sight. Turnbull Mfg. Co.’s signature metal finishes (color case hardening, charcoal blue and rust blue) compliment the Winchester style #10 engraving pattern done by Brian Powley. 100 rounds of factory ammo, donated by Grizzly Cartridge, will accompany this rifle.
The American Custom Gunmakers Guild (ACGG) is an association dedicated to the advancement of the art of custom gunmaking. It is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit trade association. In 1985 the American Custom Gunmakers Guild and the Firearms Engravers Guild of America joined efforts to present a venue to showcase the work of their membership. Each year the quality and artistic expression of projects displayed has surpassed the previous year’s work and astounded makers and attendees.
After 28 years, the two organizations have decided to resume holding separate conventions/shows beginning in 2013. The American Custom Gunmakers Guild will have their 2013 show as the “Custom Gunmakers’ Exposition” inside the Dallas Safari Club Convention, which is set for January 3-6, 2013.
The Firearms Engravers Guild of America will hold their first “Engraving Arts and Gunmaking Exhibition” January 25-26-27, 2013 in Reno/Sparks, at the Nugget Hotel, concurrent with convention dates for the Safari Club International.
The Regular Membership of ACGG includes individual craftsmen who are in the trade of custom gunmaking, including stockmakers, metalsmiths, engravers, and other specialists. Associates are individuals and companies who have an interest in fine quality custom firearms. We invite anyone who appreciates this work to join as an Associate Member via the ACGG website at www.acgg.org.
