After first reporting that an arrest had been made in the Boston bombings, sources close to the investigation said that in fact is not true.

CNN first said a federal law enforcement source told CNN’s Fran Townsend that an arrest had been made, however, Townsend said in a live interview on CNN that the situation is still fluid and that there had been some misunderstanding and that no one has been arrested. CNN also cited a Boston law enforcement source who spoke to CNN’s John King, who also confirmed Townsend’s earlier report — however that report also turned out to be false.

Earlier, investigators said they identified a suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings. The breakthrough came from analysis of video from a department store near the site of the second explosion. Video from a Boston television station also contributed to the progress, said the source, who declined to be more specific but called it a significant development.
