Federal Premium has had a good start to the year. A couple of weeks ago, the Vista Outdoor brand said it would deliver up to $20 million in training rounds to U.S. Naval Surface Warfare Center-Crane Division. Now, the company has been awarded a new contract to supply multiple Department of Homeland Security agencies with its .40 caliber Tactical HST duty ammo.
The contract calls for the delivery of up to 180 million rounds for a period of up to five years. Deliveries are set to begin this year. The dollar amount wasn’t revealed. The press release names ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) as part of the deal, but other DHS agencies include the U.S. Coast Guard, Customs and Border Protection, and the Secret Service.
“Law enforcement and federal agencies put it all on the line for our safety and freedoms. They should expect nothing less from their ammunition,” Federal Premium product director Mike Holm said in a press release. “Federal Premium provides the top-quality products they need to have full confidence in any situation. HST has a long history of providing trusted performance time and time again for our nation’s law enforcement.”
HST features an expanded diameter and weight retention. This produces “desired penetration without over-penetrating,” Federal says. It sports a bullet nose profile; nickel-plated case; Federal primer; and clean-burning, low-flash propellants. This ensures function and reliability in semi-auto pistols.
