The officer is now on leave while an internal investigation looks at how this happened.
Police said a week ago the officers were responding to a domestic disturbance report.
Three officers were at the incident and two of them ended up in a scuffle with a suspect, police said.
A shot was fired by the third officer as she stood nearby. The bullet hit another officer’s radio, which was in his gun belt, according to police.
“It could have been a lot worse, nobody was actually hurt,” said Ron Jacobs with the Oviedo Police Department.
