Smyrna, Ga.– GLOCK Professional and the US Army Marksmanship Unit will host the Old South Regional Classic XII on March 29-30, 2008 at Ft. Benning in Georgia. GLOCK, Inc. celebrity spokesperson, R. Lee Ermey will be on hand to sign autographs and participate in the range activities. Ermey is acclaimed for his role as Gunnery Sergeant Hartman in the hit movie, Full Metal Jacket in 1987. In order to compete in the 2008 Gunny Challenge, you must be a current or previous GSSF Matchmeister.
“I’d like to invite all GSSF members to attend the Ft. Benning match sponsored by GLOCK Professional and the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit, visit with Gunnery Sgt. R. Lee Ermey and watch some of the best pistol shooters in the world compete in the 4th Annual Gunny Challenge,” said Alan Ramsey, GSSF and Training Director at GLOCK Professional.
Last year’s Old South Regional Classic XI drew over 350 entries. Registration will open at 8:30am on Saturday, March 29th and Sunday, March 30th and will close at 3:00p.m. on Saturday and 2:00p.m. on Sunday. The Gunny Challenge Match will be held at 10am on Sunday, March 30th. There will be an armorer on hand to service the participant’s GLOCK pistols. There will also be a side match that will have the same targets as the Gunny Challenge targets which will allow the participants in the Old South Regional Classic or Gunny Challenge to have some practice time before they shoot.
“We were very pleased to host the Gunny Challenge last year, which was very well attended and successful,” said Sgt. 1st Class Aaron L. Hampton, the noncommissioned officer in charge of the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit Action/Combat Shooting Team. “We look forward to working with GLOCK Professional again next year and for many years in the future.”
