Attorney General Terry Goddard announced a new grant Wednesday aimed at helping to stop guns and money from crossing the Arizona border into Mexico.

According to Attorney General spokeswoman Molly Edwards, the $418 thousand grant will be used to cut off movement of guns and currency to the Mexican drug cartels.

The money will specifically go toward personnel training, specialized equipment and search dogs to be used from Nogales to Tucson, Edwards said.

The grant comes from the Southwest Border Alliance, which is part of the $94 million recovery from Western Union that was given out earlier this year, according to Edwards.
