WASHINGTON– A $712 billion fiscal 2009 defense authorization bill has been approved on a unanimous 61-0 vote by the House Armed Services Committee after a marathon session that started Wednesday morning and ended early Thursday.

The committee struggled over specific issues such as ballistic missile defense, the Army’s massive Future Combat System and a number of personnel issues.  For more details, click here and return back to comment.
