The Quincy community is coming together to help support a local soldier wounded overseas.
Staff Sgt. Derek Jennings was seriously injured in October from an IED.
Now the community is giving back to the soldier by helping his family raise money.
And if it wasn’t for an article in the newspaper, all of this may have never happened. When Tracy Taber read about a local soldier hurt while serving his country overseas, he had to do something to help.
“I don’t know, something about it, it just, I felt like something needed to be done for him,” said Tracy Taber, organizer of the benefit.
