WASHINGTON – “Operation Scheduled Departure,” the Bush administration’s invitation to illegal immigrants to voluntarily leave the country, is launching on Aug. 5 in Santa Ana, Calif.; San Diego; Phoenix; Chicago and Charlotte, N.C., and will end Aug 22.¬† The program is open to those who have been ordered to leave the country but have remained in the U.S. and have not committed a crime, and asks that they surrender at immigration offices voluntarily.
