The state of Illinois has approved 5,000 concealed carry applications. According to the Beacon-News, the licenses are in the process of being printed and mailed, with many of them expected to arrive early this week. These are the first 5,000 applications approved out of roughly 46,000 statewide.
“We’re going to print as many as we can get through today and continue on Monday,” Illinois State Police Col. Marc Maton said on Friday.
As the Beacon-Times points out, the blue-and-red licenses, which are roughly the same size as a driver’s license, are valid for five years.
All of the approved applicants passed criminal background and mental health checks, Maton confirmed.
