Israel has continued it’s offensive in Gaza, despite the U.N. Security Council’s call for an immediate cease-fire. Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert disregarded the U.N. vote because the resolution will not stop Palestinian groups. “The state of Israel has never agreed that any outside body would etermine it’s right to defend the security of it’s citizens. The IDF will continue operations in order to defend Israeli citizens and will carry out the missions with which it has been assigned in the operations,” Olmert said. Hamas also rejected the resolution shortly after the Security council vote. Roughly 778 Palestinians and 13 Israelis including 10 soldiers have been killed since Israel began it’s air and ground assault which was meant to stop Hamas militants from continuing to use the territory to lob rockets into southern Israel.
