A K-9 deputy in Florida managed to successfully talk down an armed and suicidal suspect while he and his dog were getting stung by yellow jackets. Watch the video above to see it all go down.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office says the incident began when deputies responded to a domestic violence call in the town of Weirsdale. Upon arrival at the home, they learned that the suspect—28-year-old Sean T. Shea—had beaten and strangled a female victim and fled the home. K-9 Deputy Jeremie Nix and his K-9, named Drago, were able to track and find Shea in a wooded area nearby.

Shea told Nix he was armed with a gun and a knife and threatened to commit suicide. According to the AP, he held a box cutter to his throat. But Nix managed to start a dialogue with Shea, eventually convincing him to turn himself in peacefully. As it turns out, Shea didn’t have a gun.

During the 30-minute standoff, Nix and Drago were both stung more than 20 times by yellow jackets. The Marion County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Drago was treated by a vet after the incident. Both Drago and Nix have recovered and are now back on the job.

Shea has been charged with Domestic Battery by Strangulation and is currently being held in the Marion County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
