A suspect has been arrested in connection with the stabbing of a French soldier near Paris on Saturday, and has since admitted to the crime, officials say.
The homeless, unemployed man was reportedly a convert to Islam who had “wanted to attack a representative of the state”, Prosecutor Francois Molins said.
While similar to the deadly attack in the UK, officials are still investigating any direct connection beyond “copycat” motives.
The 23-year-old soldier, who was stabbed in the neck, is in stable condition.
