Law enforcement officers gathered at a two-day conference in South Carolina to learn more about the trends and changes to fight against gang violence.
Sergeant Chris Feaster of the Chester City Police Department in South Carolina said, “There’s changes going on all the time, but that’s where this conference and this networking works to our advantage. If one department starts to see a change and contacts us and lets us know of the changes, that’s where I think this conference works.”
The conference, sponsored by the South Carolina Department of Corrections, educated nearly 400 attendees on a national, state and regional level. Speakers not only focused on what is happening on the streets, but also how changes in technology has allowed some gang members to continue their gang activity from behind bars by using illegal cell phones.
Law enforcement officers who attended were hoping to gain the knowledge that will translate into their own communities.
