Dayton, Ohio-based company LION Apparel has been awarded a $45.7 million contract from the Defense Logistics Agency to provide warehousing, distribution and logistics for clothing and equipment to federal civilian agencies. LION beat out 11 other companies to win the contract.

As the Dayton Business Journal points out, the deal is crucial for LION, as the company is currently attempting to grow a division — LION Vallen — which would specialize in logistics and supply chain management of uniforms and personal equipment for the military.

This isn’t the first significant deal LION has signed recently. According to Dayton Business Journal, the company won a $20 million, seven-year deal last year to provide warehousing, distribution and logistical needs for the U.S. Army and various federal civilian agencies.

LION specializes in manufacturing protective equipment for first responders in cities across the country.
