London’s Metropolitan Police is not planning to boost the number of officers covering the Olympic Games, commissioner Bernard Hogan-Howe said Thursday, amid a security fiasco that is forcing the government to call in thousands of troops to make up for a contractor’s failure to supply enough guards for the Games.

“I’m confident we will not need to put more officers into it at this stage,” he said.
