Lynchburg’s Tactical Response Team now has a vehicle they can brag about.
The LPD recently bought the $250,000 armored vehicle, using a homeland security grant.
It has cameras, external gun ports and thermal-imaging cameras.
It also has a bullet-proof outer layer that employs state of the art science. But don’t ask the officers how it’s made.
“They won’t even tell us. It’s an impregnated steel that is proprietary to Linco that is just incredible protection,” said Lt. E.M. Williams, tactical team leader.
