ATLANTA, Georgia– The Supreme Court’s monumental decision made last week about gun rights has ignited widespread discussion and debate regarding the role of firearms in American society. Not unique in recent years, yet surprisingly often, firearms are used most for suicides than homicides.
In the most recent report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, statistics show that the majority of gun owners use the weapon on themselves and not on others. The 2005 report is no different from statistics accumulated over the last 25 years, where suicide has always accounted for well over half of all gun-related deaths each year.
