MEXICO CITY, Mexico (CNN) — Mexico’s former drug czar has been detained on suspicion that he may have accepted bribes from drug traffickers, Mexico’s attorney general released in a statement on Friday. In charge of the office that specializes in combatting organized crime in Mexico since 2006, Noe Ramirez Mandujano is accused of meeting with members of a drug cartel and accepting $450,000 a month in bribes while in office.
