Middlesex Sheriff Peter J. Koutoujian said he was “proud to see first-hand” the work of the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office SWAT team throughout the past week in supporting the “extraordinary work” of federal, state and local law enforcement.

“The events of the past week demonstrated the commitment of law enforcement across all levels to identifying and capturing those responsible for Monday‚Äôs heinous Boston Marathon attack,” Koutoujian said in a statement issued Sunday.

“While successful, the hunt for suspects came with a heavy price with the death of MIT Police Officer Sean Collier and the wounding of MBTA Transit Police Officer Richard Donohue Thursday night.”
