Police say they collected 192 illegal and operable handguns on Saturday as a result of their annual Gun Buy Back Program.
Included in the 192 guns purchased was a TEC-9, a semi-automatic firearm. The program was hosted at the Tabernacle of Joy Church in Uniondale.
In its seventh year, the program is strictly anonymous and individuals are paid $200 cash per turned in operable handgun. Licensed guns, BB guns, air pistols, long guns and replicas are not accepted.
More than 130 guns were turned in at the last Gun Buy Back Program in May.
