An Illinois-based Navy commanding officer has been relieved of duty following an investigation into allegations of hazing, according to a Navy statement released Monday.

Lt. Cmdr. Jack O’Neill, commanding officer of Navy Operational Support Center Rock Island, was relieved March 19 due to “loss of confidence in O’Neill’s ability to command,” according to the statement.

The hazing allegations stemmed from a drill weekend at the reserve command. The statement also cited unspecified “command climate issues” as reasons for O’Neill’s relief.
