The annual Southern Dominican Province Gala at the U.S. Freedom Pavilion of the National World War II Museum in New Orleans honored a number of United States military veterans. The event, held in November, paid tribute to Herschel Abbott; Gerald Conrad Jr.; Col. Jo Ann Cotterman, O.P. USAR (Ret.); Dr. Pat Jordan, O.P.; Very Rev. JosĂ© I. Lavastida; Frank Purvis; Dr. Frank Schmidt, and Dylan TĂȘte, as well as additional active duty service members and veterans from several different branches.

The event is a benefit for the Dominican Friars, St. Martin de Porres Province, which is located in Metairie, Louisiana.
