A high-level representative of the world’s largest retailer said that there will be no firearms sold in its District of Columbia stores.*
“There will be no guns in our Washington, D.C. stores,” Phillip Keene, the senior manager for corporate communications, said in an interview on Fri., April 29.
“That is not going to happen.”
The Wall Street Journal reported in its April 28 edition that Walmart planned to resume rifle, shotgun and ammunition sales in hundreds of its U.S. stores in the near future. Some D.C. residents who are wary about Walmart’s presence in the city are concerned about its selling of firearms in areas where there is a lot of gun violence.
