While it is a relatively new, niche technology, and no 3-D gun has ever been used in a crime, NYC City Councilman Lew Fidler wants to outlaw them—now.

Fidler’s bill specifies that to make the weapons without a gunsmith license is illegal. Guns must be registered with cops and each weapon must have an identifying number. The bill lays out rules for the firearms that can be churned out on a 3-D printer and easily assembled.
