The New York City Police Department is leading a major training exercise aimed at preventing a dirty bomb attack.
The five-day exercise gets underway at 11 a.m.
More than 100 agencies from New York, New Jersey and Connecticut will take part.
The exercise begins at the United Nations building on First Avenue.
Officers will create traffic checkpoints and conduct grid searches.
There will also be increased activity on roadways and transit hubs leading into the city until the end of the week, which could cause traffic delays.
