Ohio law enforcement officials held a summit to bring attention to the growing issues surrounding prescription drug abuse and trafficking in Cuyahoga County near Cleveland.
The pharmaceutical company Purdue Pharma L.P. put on the summit that was hosted by the Cleveland Police Department. The conference trained officers on prescription drug identification, lawful prescribing of drugs, prevention of drug diversion, pharmacy theft and pharmaceutical counterfeiting.
The summit was specific to Cuyahoga County crime trends but Cleveland Police Commander Gary Gingell said, “There’s only going to be Cuyahoga County officers in attendance, but I would not be surprised if the information travels a bit.”
