This “colorful” pistol is from Olympic Arms and is called the Westerner or “Trail Boss.”  The acid-like colors are actually a result of a real case-hardening process known to be used on many firearms of the old west and military prior to World War I. It was an expensive, time-consuming, and messy process to harden metals for the use of more powerful loads when people converted from blackpowder use to cartridge loads or high power long range rifles. So in a way, this 1911 is a retro in appearance but if you were a Texas Ranger or a Western Sheriff, this 1911 would be a welcome tribute capable of defense. What a beautiful pistol with simulated ivory grips.
