Plainfield police have withdrawn their request to store guns in the local school district’s four high schools, officials say.
Plainfield Police Chief John Konopek had asked that guns be kept in safes at the schools for officers to use in case of violence at the schools. He also said the safes could secure confidential information, evidence and other items.
The district says Konopek sent a letter to school officials late Wednesday asking to withdraw the request from further consideration.
