The San Antonio Police SWAT team returned from an international SWAT competition Sunday evening with a whole lot of bragging rights.

The SWAT team took first place in the nation at the US National SWAT Competition in Tulsa, Okla., over the weekend.

They beat out teams from as far as Zurich and as nearby as Dallas, and they took second place in the worldwide competition. Bruce Power, of Canada, came in first.

The SAPD team competed in many categories, including a simulated tactical officer rescue, a hostage situation and a barricaded gunman scenario.

Officer Matt Porter with the San Antonio Police Department said, “Our SWAT team, they train a lot. They’re together all the time. They’re a tight-knit bunch. Again, we feel like they’re the best SWAT team out there.”

One team member who asked to remain nameless said the team was “just doing what they do best.”
