A three-day event honoring veterans, active duty military and military families is set for Jan. 24-26 at Taos Ski Valley, New Mexico. The event is being hosted by Not Forgotten Outreach in conjunction with Taos Ski Valley.

According to Don Peters, executive director of Not Forgotten Outreach, the event is a way to bring together veterans, active duty members and surviving families. “It is hardest to get surviving families. They disappear into the woodwork after they bury their solders,” Peters said.

In anticipation of the Not Forgotten Outreach Appreciation Weekend, Peters said every military base in New Mexico has been contacted, in addition to Fort Bliss in El Paso and bases in Pueblo, Colo., Amarillo and Oklahoma. Additionally, the Army Wounded Warrior Transition Unit has been notified about the ski weekend.

“Just everybody is coming up,” said Peters.
