Super Bowl XLIX: Phoenix Law Enforcement Preps Command Center

The Super Bowl is arguably the biggest sporting event in the world, drawing massive crowds every year.

Super Bowl XLIX in Phoenix will be no different.

Law enforcement in the area has already set up its command center that will keep an eye on crowded areas during the big game.

According to 3TV in Phoenix:

From an undisclosed location in Phoenix, law enforcement personnel will be able to monitor several areas across the Valley that are expected to draw huge crowds. Those areas include Sky Harbor Airport, University of Phoenix Stadium, downtown Phoenix and the Westgate Entertainment District.

The command center will be staffed around the clock with about 200 people from local, regional and federal law enforcement agencies.

“For an event like this, we have relationships that allow us to touch their networks and bring their feeds,” Phoenix Police Sgt. Anthony Jones told 3TV. “In a time like this, the more we see, the better. We can be proactively monitoring, looking for things happening, and it gives the decision-makers, the managers, a chance to see what’s going on as opposed to just hearing what’s going on through radio chatter.”
