A suspect lead police on a wild, dangerous chase that had his car weaving in and out of oncoming traffic at high rates of speed. The suspect barreled down the wrong lane, spun out and sped through numerous officer attempts to deploy stop sticks. Finally, the suspect pulled over and fled into the woods. That’s where the K-9 gets him.
“Bijan Johnson drove recklessly at high speeds on I-95 and through the Ormond Beach area as Air One monitored his location from overhead,” said a Volusia County Sheriff’s Office release. He eventually drove behind a business complex on Division Avenue and went into an area of heavy brush.”
Dash cam and body cam footage shows the wild scene ensue, first as Air One provides remarkable footage of Johnson speeding across Florida. Then when he finally bails out, footage shows the K-9, Lasco, go to work. Officers and Lasco comb through dense vegetation before the dog finally gets the scent.
Suddenly, the suspect screams and cries when Lasco takes a bite out of crime. “My hands are up bro, get him,” Johnson squeals, begging an officer to call of the dog.
“Inside Johnson’s vehicle, deputies found a loaded Glock 9mm handgun, a quarter pound of methamphetamine, about $5,600 cash and small amounts of marijuana and drug paraphernalia,” said Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities treated Johnson for a bite from Lasco then eventually transported the suspect to the Volusia County Branch Jail. Johnson faces several warrants, plus new charges. His total bond is well over $1 million, according to Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.
