MIAMI – The Taurus® Judge has been awarded the NRA Publications Division’s highest honor: the Golden Bullseye Award. American Rifleman, NRA’s 122-year-old flagship publication, awarded the Taurus Judge “Handgun of the Year”, recognizing the pistol’s innovative, multi-purpose design and defensive capabilities.
NRA Publications will present its annual Golden Bullseye Awards at an invitation-only breakfast during the 2008 NRA Annual Meetings and Exhibits, May 15-18, in Louisville, Kentucky. The Golden Bullseye Awards are an acknowledgement of the finest products introduced to shooting sports in the previous year and are voted on by an a seven-member committee consisting of editors, art staff and veteran public relations staff, representing more than a century of collective expertise in the firearm industry.
“The Golden Bullseye Awards, now in their sixth year, acknowledge the companies and individuals who pursue excellence and innovation in the manufacture of firearms, accessories and related equipment,” said Joe H. Graham, executive director of NRA Publications. “Once again, we honor our winners for bringing to market products remarkable in their utility to shooters and hunters.”
Appropriately called the Taurus Judge because of the number of judges who carry the Taurus model .45/.410 into the courtroom, this powerful revolver is the final word in close quarters combat. Capable of chambering both .410 Ga. shotgun shells and .45 Colt ammunition, this amazing 5-shot combo gun is ideal for short distances – where most altercations occur – or longer distances with the .45 LC ammunition. The rifling has been finely tuned on this medium frame revolver to spread the shot pattern at close quarters or to guide the bullet to the target.
“This is one of the most innovative firearms that Taurus has introduced,” notes Bob Morrison, President/COO of Taurus International. He adds, “Taurus is thrilled to win a Golden Bullseye Award again this year. It’s an honor to earn such esteemed recognition from the industry.”
The Taurus Judge is available in several models and variations including either blue or stainless steel and 3-inch or 6 1/2-inch barrel lengths. This year Taurus also offers an Ultra-Lite titanium model and 3-inch Magnum variation that chambers .45 LC/.410 gauge 3-inch magnum cartridges. All Taurus Judge models include fixed rear sights and fiber optic front sights as well as Taurus’ ergonomic Ribber Grips. Additionally, like all Taurus handguns, the unique Taurus Security System allows users to securely lock the gun using an inconspicuous key-lock system. MSRP $519 – $639.
