SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 21, 2008) – Smith & Wesson Corp., announced today that Team Smith & Wesson member Jerry Miculek took home top honors during the 2008 United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA) Area 6 Regional Championships held April 18-20, 2008 at the South River Gun Club in Covington, Georgia. Competing in the Revolver division, Miculek placed first overall while fellow teammates Jeffery DeGracia and Gordon Carrell placed second and third overall in the Production division. In addition, other members of Team Smith & Wesson earned high scores throughout the three-day shooting competition.

The 2008 USPSA Area 6 Regional Championships featured over 300 participants from around the world including competitors from Canada, Germany, Ecuador and Jamaica. During the annual competition, shooters from six divisions squared off in 12 challenging stages of fire. At each stage of fire, shooters took aim against obstacle-laden courses as they were required to draw their firearms, negotiate obstacles, and shoot on the move, all while engaging a variety of steel and paper targets.

In the Production division, Team Smith & Wesson finished second and third overall with Jeffery DeGracia winning the Grand Master (GM) class and Gordon Carrell winning top honors in the A class. Also competing in this year’s Production Division was Team Smith & Wesson member and Director of U.S. Government Sales, Ernest Langdon. Langdon, who competed in the Master (M) class placed 8th overall and took third place in his class. Team Smith & Wesson also had a strong showing in the Limited-10 division with Gilbert Perez placing fourth overall while taking home first place in the M class.

Competing in the Open division, Kay Miculek won the High Lady Award while finishing 24th overall in the M class.
