Tempe police shot and critically injured a man they say lunged at officers while brandishing a box cutter Thursday morning.

Officers were called to a Starbucks in Tempe, Arizona at 8:18 a.m. on reports that a man standing near the store was disrupting and threatening people with a knife or box cutter.

LEOs said the man refused to obey commands to drop his weapon and ultimately charged at officers with the box cutter, prompting an officer fired multiple rounds at the suspect, Carbajal said.
