A thief who picked the wrong target was shot when he tried to break into an FBI agent’s car in Queens early Wednesday, sources said.

The off-duty agent spotted the thief at the vehicle on Sutter Ave. near North Conduit Rd. in Ozone Park about 5:15 a.m., sources said.

The agent approached the suspect, who may have tried to flee, sources said. During the confrontation, the G-man fired at least once, striking the alleged thief, sources said.
