CHARLOTTE, N.C.– A US Airways pilot told police he was stowing a gun when it misfired in the cockpit and neglected to tell Airport authorities until after the plane landed safely at its destination.  As part of a federal flight deck officer program created after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, pilots are required to carry a weapon in their cockpit in case of emergency and this misfire is the first case a weapon has been fired since the program was developed.  For more details, click here and return back to comment.
