The U.S. has canceled the military training exercise with Egypt that was originally scheduled to take place next month.
President Obama cancelled the training exercise, called Bright Star, due to the recent increase of violence in Egypt.
Bright Star is held every two years as part of U.S. military strategy in the Middle East to demonstrate the ability to deploy troops in case of war. The training exercise is also meant to help strengthen ties between the U.S. and Egypt.
Bright Star was last cancelled in 2003 due to the demands of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
