U.S. Goverment officials decided to delay the first phase of high-tech construction of the 28-foot virtual border fence for at least three years. The fence is to be used for restricting illegal entry along the U.S.-Mexico border, but technical problems with the fence’s development caused DHS officials to shift away from the networks of tower-mounted sensors and surveillance originally planned to be used with the fence.
