The increasing violence in Egypt may cause the U.S. to cancel a major military training exercise scheduled for next month.
The training exercise, called Bright Star, would involve thousands of American air and ground troops. This exercise is held every two years to demonstrate the U.S. military’s ability to deploy troops to the Middle East in case of war.
The worsening of violence, especially the recent killing of protestors in Cairo, is factoring into the possible decision to cancel. A decision is expected to be made in the coming days.
