Two charities are teaming up to build Mills a “smart home.” The home is filled with technology meant to give an amputee independence.

Tunnels to Towers and Gary Sinise foundations are teaming up to build homes for soldiers who have been severely wounded while serving the country. Sinise is well known for his portrayal of a Vietnam veteran who lost his legs in the film “Forrest Gump.”

The two foundations will start or complete 11 homes this year for war heroes who have lost limbs. The specialty houses, which can cost between $750,000 and $1 million to build, offer everything needed to ease the burden on Mills and his family.

This smart home will be built wherever Mills wants his family to live, anywhere in America. While it can’t possibly come close to replacing what Mills has lost, it can at least remind him how grateful the nation is for his service and his sacrifice.
