Special protective vests which provide protection from bullet and stab wounds have been given to twenty-four police dogs in Vermont and New Hampshire.

The vests were provided by Vested Interest in K9s, Inc, a Massachusetts-based nonprofit organization founded in 2009 to help law enforcement agencies get body armor for dogs.

Each vest costs $950 and has a five-year warranty.
